Alpine Rose

Nature’s anti-inflammatory sourced from its harshest landscapes. Rich in phyto-nutrients, Alpine Rose grows at high altitudes in the Swiss Alps and through continuous regeneration, can live up to 100 years. Despite the relentless environment, the plant has evolved to protect itself from dehydration and any radicals and pathogens that try to attack it. Scientists studying the plant discovered that it’s rich in protecting antioxidants, a vital substance that helps defend our skin against free radical damage - a contributing factor to the skin’s ageing process.

The Alpine Rose extract in our lip balm is organic and sustainably sourced. Active parts of the plant include the flowers, leaves and gills.

LIP CARE BENEFITS:

HYDRATING: The same properties that gives the rose stem cells its ability to tolerate extreme frost and dehydration works on human skins.
REDUCES ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE: Skin receives increased protection from environmental stressors.
INCREASED CELL TURNOVER: Studies demonstrate that cell turnover increased as much as 75% with Alpine Rose stem cell extract.
IMPROVED OVERALL LIP HEALTH: With regular use, lips look and feel healthier, less dry and better nourished.
NATURAL ANTI-VIRAL PROPERTIES: Studies have shown its naturally occurring properties can help reduce the occurrence of cold sores.

Lysine

Lysine is an essential amino acid important in the creation of collagen; the structure responsible for skin elasticity and firmness.

Due to its skin conditioning properties, dermatologists and skincare experts believe lysine is one of the two key ingredients necessary for true skin health. You must have a certain amount in your diet to protect and repair your skin, and in addition you can benefit from its inclusion in your skincare products.

LIP CARE BENEFITS:

WORKS TO PREVENT THE SIGNS OF AGEING: Lysine works to increase collagen production, protecting elasticity and fullness.
INCREASES BLOOD FLOW AND CIRCULATION: Reducing the impact of environmental stress.
NATURAL ANTI-VIRAL PROPERTIES: Studies have shown its naturally occurring properties can help reduce the occurrence of cold sores.

Oat Lipids

An oat oil with naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamin E and linoleic acid.

Ceramide rich, it can help maintain the skin’s natural balance by replacing lost lipids, the skin’s natural fats that play a crucial role in the skin’s barrier function. A deficiency in ceramides, lipids found in the uppermost layers of the skin, is a common cause of dry skin.

Our source is ECOCERT Natural and GMO Free.

LIP CARE BENEFITS:

SOOTHING: Oat lipids are often included in preparations for those with very sensitive or allergy prone skin.
HIGHLY ABSORBANT: Works deeper into the dermal layers than simple surfactants, delivering ingredients where they’re needed.
NON-COMOGENIC: Won’t block pores or add to skin congestion in the way that ingredients like Petroleum Jelly do.
LOCKS IN MOISTURE: Forms a physical barrier against moisture loss, leading to better moisturisation for longer.

Licorice Root

Licorice root has long been used to soothe the skin. We also use it to give a little sweetness to our lip balm.

SPF20 Broad spectrum SPF20 UVB + UVA.

Both UVA and UVB rays can be damaging to the skin. UVA is known to play a major part in skin aging and wrinkling (photoaging) UVB is the chief cause of skin reddening and sunburn

To ensure protection from both UVA and UVB we have included photostable, broad spectrum UV filters to shield the lips in our Alpine Rose & Lysine SPF20 lip balm. This balm has undergone the rigorous testing required (on people, not animals) to confirm the SPF20 rating and the UVA logo means you can be confident that the UVA protection is at least the recommended one third of the UVB protection.
